Say goodbye to cookie-cutter programs, outdated assessments, and sub-par results and start making the elite athletes you've always dreamed about training.

Have you ever wondered what separates the average trainers and coaches from the best of the best?

Have you ever considered what accounts for the difference between a mediocre athlete and an elite one?

Are you looking to establish yourself as the next great trainer, coach, or athlete?

The answers are all now right at your fingertips…

There are millions of trainers, coaches, and athletes around the world searching for the Holy Grail of health and human performance.  They’re constantly debating with each other on sets and reps; training frequency, intensity, and duration; and what the best equipment and supplements are.  Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of these debates are carried out without a crucial foundation.  That is, very few coaches, trainers, and athletes really understand how the body works.

Enter the Functional Anatomy Geeks

By our own admission, we’re geeks when it comes to not just understanding the structure of the body, but understanding how that structure dictates function or dysfunction (and, in turn, health or pathology).  In typical anatomy courses, students are required to learn where bones and muscles are, and then list their actions, points of attachment, and possibly nerve innervations.  However, several key questions are never asked:

  1. What causes a muscle to stop working?
  2. When a muscle “shuts down,” what other muscles must work overtime to compensate?
  3. What are the ramifications of these compensations?
  4. How do we identify and correct these inefficiencies?

Having the answers to questions like these – a keen sense of functional anatomy – is what separates the best in the business from those who are content with mediocrity.  Spotting and correcting inefficiencies early on prevents injury and enhances performance; efficient athletes will always be better athletes – and that’s where we come in.

"Eric Cressey & Mike Robertson's Building the Efficient Athlete Seminar was as information-packed as any two-day seminar that I've ever attended – and I’ve seen a lot.  From the functional anatomy, to the static and dynamic assessment procedures, to the hands-on exercises technique segments, Eric and Mike provided a thoroughly enjoyable, yet highly educational environment.  For those of you who weren’t fortunate enough to attend, I highly recommend getting this DVD set, as the information is well worth the investment."

"In my ten years in the fitness industry, I have been to many seminars and conferences – but the Building the Efficient Athlete Seminar was by far the most informative and comprehensive event I have attended in as long as I can remember.  The amount of knowledge you get when you combine Eric Cressey and Mike Robertson is unparalleled.  The seminar was filled with great classroom information, hands-on assessments, and on-site training tips.  I highly recommend this DVD set to any coach, trainer, or athlete who is looking to get a leg up on the competition."

“It is no surprise that Eric Cressey and Mike Robertson have come up with yet another fantastic product.  I can say without any hesitation that I learned more in two days attending this seminar than I did in my ENTIRE collegiate career in a health and human performance-related major.  All fitness professionals – whether they train athletes or your average ‘weekend warrior’ – would be wise to add this DVD collection to their libraries.  If you don't walk away with at least 20 new ways to improve the performance of your clients and revamp your programming, I will send you my next paycheck.”

DVD #8: Neanderthal No More Revisited: What We’d Do Differently

Almost three years ago, we co-authored a five-part article series called “Neanderthal No More.”  This series outlined common postural flaws and offered corrective exercise suggestions.  While people made tremendous progress with this program, we’d be lying nowadays if we said that we wouldn’t have done anything differently if we were to write that series of articles over today.  On this DVD, we mercilessly rip on our own program – with the help of those in attendance – based largely on the principles we discussed over the course of the two-day seminar.  It’s a perfect example of how learning more about functional anatomy can dramatically change what we’re doing – and even make a good program into a great program

"The wealth of knowledge imparted to the attendees of the Building the Efficient Athlete seminar is invaluable. As competitive athletes, Eric Cressey and Mike Robertson have a unique viewpoint to offer anyone lucky enough to have attended the seminar or view these DVDs. With live demonstrations of the most basic (and easily misunderstood) exercises in addition to less well-known exercises, Cressey and Robertson achieve what should be the ultimate goal of any coach: making the athletes better at what they need while fixing the inefficiencies that might lead to chronic or acute injuries in the weight room and out on the field.

"Unlike many of the other approaches out there, Building the Efficient Athlete teaches you how to implement strategies that will fix an athlete's performance inefficiencies while still allowing the athlete to progress in the weight room and in a sport-specific context. With this information, there is no derailing of the an athlete's major focuses simply for the sake of fixing the minutiae."
